Product Reviews- Kikskin Gi
Kikskin GiThe Kikskin Company was Founded in 1994 by Scott Mofhitz , a kenpo and jiu-jitsu school owner in Sacramento , CA, who studied under Ralf and Caesar Gracie. I had the opportunity to speak with Scott about his products and business philosophy. He is a hell of a guy whose fine business practice reflects in his quality products. The first thing I noticed about this gi was that the fabric was not a coarse as most Jiu-jitsu Gis on the market. The fabric on the outside of the jacket seemed to have a silkier feel than my other gis. This was the first time I noticed a vertical weave pattern on the sleeve of a gi, which prompted me to examine some of my other jackets to compare. It seems the only other gi (in my closet) that follows a similar pattern is Mkimono's Hybrid weave. The fact that the pattern runs vertically definitely makes the sleeves harder to grip. As a tip and side note: if you put tons of fabric softener on a gi like this, your sleeves will be very hard to grab. The fit of the gi was comfortable and loose. The one thing particularly appealing to me was the fit of the pants; this was the first gi I have ever tried on that had long enough pant legs! A great gi for all you fellows over the average 5'10" height. The jacket is a loose fit design with a little more room in the cuffs than I usually prefer, but would be very well suited for a bodybuilder type with larger forearms or those who prefer playing an open guard game. It has the same `one-piece' design as the Krugans or Mkimonos gis (no skirt) with a comfortable average width collar. The Kikskin Single Weave Gi can be ordered at www.kikskin.com for $99.95. |
