The New Master Text is here!

Thanks Again!

Friends, there are no words to describe what it feels like at this very moment to be me right now. I am so very appreciative of all the kind words and support I have been given over the years, and all the wonderful students who have been like family to me. Its hard to believe that five years have passed already since I started writing books about Jiu-jitsu and founded this site. It all started as a simple handbook for my students and turned into a worldwide operation. We have sold books in all fifty states and over fifty different countries around the world. I am so happy to be able to offer this product to a community that has changed my life so much.

The New Master Text is here!

For all of you who have supported me by buying the first Master Text, I have a special deal for you (link to letter) that you should take advantage of. If you have not yet purchased a book from me, I can assure you that a purchase from me is an investment. I am here for you though my forum to help you and answer questions and will continue to show my customers appreciation by offering special deals to them as a reward for their support. I have never worked so hard on anything or been so confident about anything else in my entire life as I am about this book. The New Master Text is by far the largest and most complete book of Jiu-jitsu ever written! You have my personal guarantee on that.

To celebrate the release of the New Master Text, I will be hosting a free seminar and release party (for which tickets must be purchased) for those who register. The party will be on August 30th - the free class at NYMAG is at 12 noon. All who wish to attend the class must email me at Aranha@jiu-jitsu.net. There is limited space for the class, so please contact me ASAP. The party later that night is something you will not want to miss and I'll be there to sign your books and thank you personally. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Thanks,

ARANHA

Advanced BKJ (Royce Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Network), presents West Virginia's first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Submission Grappling Tournament on Saturday, August 16, 2003, at Sissonville High School in Charleston, West Virginia. This will be a very exciting weekend full of action and competition.

Since West Virginia provides a central location to many of the surrounding states that are starving for a nice format to compete in, we look for this tournament to be very successful. Interest has already been seen from many individuals in North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia. We look for interest to increase as the word gets out.

Pre-registration is now open and we encourage individuals to get their forms in as soon as possible. This will not only help the tournament run smoother, but will also give those who pre-register a discount. Pre-registration is just $25.00 ($30.00 to compete in everything) and it closes on August 8th.

Both Gi and No-Gi Divisions are available for Men, Women, and Teens. Beautiful trophies and awards will be presented to the winners. We also have great prizes donated by Jiu-Jitsu International (a brand new Gi of your choosing) and many other companies.

We also have a unique event called, "BKJ Rules Fighting", which will be a 'watered-down' form of MMA that will allow people their first taste of the MMA experience without all of the bruises associated with it. This event will allow competitors to punch and kick to the body while on the feet, punch to the body while on the ground, and be a continuous fight with no interruptions. A Gi is not required and it will be one 3-5 minute round. We look for this event to be very exciting and give individuals a new environment to test their skills even further and possibly warm up before they get into a real MMA fight.

Look for a lot more information to come and please check the website for additional updates: www.advancedbkj.com/tournament.htm

Also, feel free to contact me for any additional information and/or questions.

I would like to personally invite you to the 3rd annual Music City Grappling Championships on Saturday and Sunday, September 13th and 14th, in Nashville TN. Our last tournament was a huge success and we are expecting this one to be even bigger and better! This will be a Gi and No-Gi competition.

There will be team trophy's this year for BOTH Gi and No Gi teams. Due to team Tigers domination of the No Gi division at the Nashville Grappling Open, we have decided to give a team Championship this year for the no Gi division. This will crown the best no gi team in the south-east.

Also on Sunday we will be having a No-Gi Absolute Division. The weight will be under 190 and above 190. In the past we have had some of the best Grapplers in the world compete in the no gi absolute including Jeff Monson, Frank Mir, Hermes Franca, Boca, and Mike Pyle. There are limited spots available so please register early.

We are encouraging all the schools this year to bring your children and women competitors. This was one area that we lacked in and would like to really promote the children and women this year.

Most of us in Grappling are not wealthy and are sometimes discouraged by the high price of competition. Luckily Nashville has some good prices on hotel rooms and I have kept the price for the competition low. We have set the Pre-registration price for one division at $50 and both divisions at $60.00. The cost of the No Gi Absolute Division will be $20.00.

We are currently working on Hotel deals so that everyone will be able to stay together for an incredibly low price. As soon as we secure the hotel, we will put the information up for everyone.

We have secured Franklin Road Academy, which is one of the nicer private schools in Nashville. This gym will hold over 1000 people, which should be plenty of room for everyone. We will be running between 6 and 8 mats to ensure the tournament runs quickly.

New Release!
Ultimate Back Escapes is now available! The system of escapes and material on this 2 DVD set is over 120 minutes long and cannot be found on any other video currently on the market. The first DVD covers the position in which you are on your elbows and knees with your opponent in front, to the side, or behind without the hooks. The second DVD teaches you escapes when your opponent is on your back with their hooks in and attempting collar chokes and the rear naked choke.

Here's a review on this new video:

I just finished watching Michael Jen's latest DVD set, Ultimate Back Escapes. Like his previous instructionals, this DVD is excellent. While some have raised issue with his production values, IMHO leaving out such distractions is a plus (but then I hate the crawl on the bottom of CNN as well).

Like his previous work, Jen's concentrates here on one subject and begins with simple, easy material then progressively deals with more and different types of resistance or from worse and more difficult starting positions.

Thankfully, there's nothing fancy or attribute intensive about what he shows, and while a large number of moves are expounded upon, in most cases each builds on what came before so, as with his Pin Escapes, Guard Pass, etc. instructions, you're shown a logically interconnected system.

Covered on the first DVD are escapes from the turtle'd position with the opponent in front, to the side, and behind you but no hooks in. The second DVD covers hooks in, lapel choke, rear-naked choke, and shows some footage of Jen rolling and using the same material shown on the DVDs. (Jen also shows some great escapes from when the opponent has your back and the figure-4 legs sunk in, which I was very interested in).

Like always, the detail of instruction is outstanding, the presentation clear, concise, and well organized, and the material highly applicable.

About the only things I could have hoped for in addition would have been figure-4 from the back when the legs were higher up on the torse, and for the armbar when you're on your back and they have both legs over. But then, always leave them wanting more...

Once again, outstanding product, outstanding service. Can't wait for the next one.
